Kagyu Monlam 2020 postponed due to the coronavirus
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, has been leading aspiration prayers, accompanied by other Buddhist lamas, at the Kagyu Monlam in Bodh Gaya since 1996.
We confirm today that, due to the global pandemic and clear health risks involved in hosting large gatherings, the Kagyu Monlam in December 2020 has been postponed until December 2021.
In due course, Karmapa will share any thoughts about how practitioners may collectively pray for the benefit of all sentient beings during the time when we would normally gather together in Bodh Gaya.
During the period from December 15 to 21, 2020, a livestream from Rumtek to the Kagyu Monlam will take place, inviting people to practice the monlam on site.
